Poverty, violence and HIV/Aids are widespread in Tanzania. Many children and young people are left to fend for themselves or have to look after their sick parents. Together with our local partner organisations, we strengthen these young people’s so that they are better able to deal with these stressful circumstances.
In the Kigoma region, many girls and women are exposed to domestic violence and often sexual assault as well. This leads to high rates of HIV/Aids and teenage pregnancies . Together with our partnerorganisation Kividea, we strengthen young people’s resilience and skills so that they know their rights and can lead a healthy life. We also help young mothers through education and training, and by supporting income-generating initiatives.
Tanzania faces many social and economic challenges. Many people suffer from the consequences of HIV/Aids, violence and early pregnancies. Young people in particular who have lost their parents often lack the necessary life skills.
