“Life instead of flight” as a street painting in Bern

Last week, “Leben statt Flucht” drew attention to young women who have the courage to lead a self-determined and independent life with a three-dimensional street painting on Bern’s Waisenhausplatz. On Friday afternoon, October 25, 2014, anyone could become part of the depicted scene and have their picture taken.

This week, terre des hommes schweiz drew attention to courageous young women with a spectacular three-dimensional street painting. (You can find more photos on our Facebook fan page) On Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, we could be found on Bern’s Waisenhausplatz, where painter Frederike Wouters had painted a six-meter-wide version of our campaign motif on the floor and wall. On Friday afternoon, passers-by can become part of the painting and shake the young woman’s hand for a better future. This action is part of the “Leben statt Flucht” campaign, which started at the beginning of September.
Become part of “Leben statt Flucht”
In this street painting, we show the path that a young woman takes – from oppression to an independent life without violence. Along the way, she meets people who support her and encourage her. The painting is visually based on the “Leben statt Flucht” campaign motif.
