Our ambassador - Tanja Grandits
Top chef Tanja Grandits is a committed supporter of our projects, especially for girls and young women.
As the only woman among the top 30 Swiss chefs, she has never considered being a woman a disadvantage in her profession.
"In my life, I have always been lucky enough to be able to change my situation myself. However, I am aware that not everyone has this privilege. Girls and women in particular are disadvantaged in many parts of the world because of their gender. That's why it means a lot to me to be committed to the self-determination of girls and women," explains Tanja Grandits.

Tanja's cookbooks with donation
In the hope of a better life, many women in southern Africa enter into relationships with older men, some of whom entice them with financial promises. If the girls become pregnant or contract HIV due to a lack of sex education, they are ostracized by society: They are considered bad role models and are expelled from school. As a result, they slide deeper into poverty.
This is what happened to Agnes A. in Mwansa. The 21-year-old lives with her family of ten in a house whose roof threatens to collapse when it rains. When she became pregnant at the age of 17, the father denied having a child and abandoned her. Fearing her father's reaction, Agnes fled from home. The pregnancy, the social condemnation and the already great poverty push young women like Agnes A. to the limits of their existence.

Together with our partner organizations, we offer these girls and young women courses to help them set up a small income-generating initiative. They also receive psychological support in dealing with their situation by learning to recognize their strengths and opportunities.
With our help, many girls and women are able to set up their own businesses: Agnes is now the proud owner of a small kiosk in the city center. Even though she is not quite where she wants to be yet, she is confident that she will make it.
Do as Tanja Grandits does and support women like Agnes with a donation.
