Members of our partner organisation Centro Sabia from Brazil occupied the municipal administration of Campo Formoso until it committed itself to abide by national law in the future. Until then, local smallholders had been given too little consideration by law when buying food for the state school meals.
At the beginning of September, 300 young people from Colombia will meet for two days. They will work together on three topics: Protection of the rights of young people, contribution of art and culture to peace and militarism. This conference, co-organised by us, is one of many events designed to give new impetus to the peace negotiations in Colombia.

The speakers at the conference "HIV/AIDS and vulnerable groups - No one left behind" made it impressively clear how this special problem should be taken into account in daily project work.
What to do when the gap and conflicts between the younger and older generations seem insurmountable? What if young people do not see a future for themselves because of poverty, unemployment and violence? The South African organisation Justice and Women (JAW) is confronted with these questions on a daily basis. They have launched a pilot project with young people to provide them with basic training in dance, singing and acting - and to promote dialogue between the generations.

Following this basic idea, partner organisations of terre des hommes switzerland in Peru rely on cultural activities such as dance, theatre or cinema in their work with marginalised young people. Some of them are now looking with creativity and courage for ways to enable the young people to earn an income with their cultural commitments.

Matabeleland South is one of the poorest regions of Zimbabwe. Young people who lose their parents here often take responsibility for their younger siblings. Since they have to earn money, they can hardly go to school and thus lose their future prospects. The Esandleni Sothando Trust's youth camp offers them a chance for a new start in this situation.
