During four days, 120 young people from different organisations in northeastern Brazil moved from place to place to learn about best practice examples in organic farming. The aim of this touring event was not only to promote intensive exchange but also to mobilise the population.
The criminal prosecution of violence against women in Mozambique is still a major challenge that the partner organisations of terre des hommes schweiz have to deal with. A good example of this is the recently "revised" penal code of Mozambique.
Every ten minutes a woman is raped in South Africa. Almost every second young woman under 18 has been raped once. Our partner organization LifeLine supports the victims and carries out major prevention work in South Africa. Sinikiwe Biyela, Director of LifeLine Pietersmaritzburg, will visit us on April 7 and will report on the work of LifeLine.

A new study by the WHO shows: Sexual and other physical violence against women is much more common worldwide than previously suspected. At least every third woman has already suffered violence. The women of El Salvador are particularly affected. There, the partner organisation Las Melidas is making a courageous commitment to the rights and protection of girls and women.

A funeral wreath, a street parade and a dance performance in the style of One Billion Rising: with these actions, terre des hommes Switzerland's partner organisation LeMuSiCa launched the action days "16 days against violence against women" on 25 November. Three further events are to follow.
The armed conflict between rebels and the military in Colombia also affects many young people, who are often drafted into military service against their will. ACOOC, a partner organisation of terre des hommes schweiz which campaigns against conscription and for the right to conscientious objection to military service, now receives important political support from the mayor of the Colombian capital Bogota, Gustavo Petro.
