Fighting indifference with social pay per view

The vernissage on Thursday (12.06.) was also the starting signal for the Copa>Demo>Video>Stream exhibition and the first social pay-per-view in Switzerland in connection with the World Cup. Both got off to a successful start.

On Thursday, June 13, 2014 at 8 pm, our previously announced exhibition entitled Copa>Demo>Video>Stream was opened with a vernissage. Various speeches were given at the opening of the exhibition, including one by Ueli Mäder, Professor of Sociology at the University of Basel and Professor at the School of Social Work (FHNW).
Between FIFA dictates and media hype, euphoria and street fighting: Copa>Demo>Video>Stream stages the controversial perspectives in the field of tension of the major event
. The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Swiss Sports Museum and takes place as part of the public viewing cultural program “Hinterhof Brasilien 2014”.
Conscious action against indifference
Following the end of the vernissage, not only was the starting signal given for the opening game, but also for Switzerland’s first Social Pay Per View. Social Pay Per View is an initiative by Regula Stämpfli and Philippe Wampfler, who want to counter the uncommented football madness with a conscious action. The arbitrariness and ruthless enrichment by FIFA cannot be countered with a boycott. Social Pay Per View, on the other hand, allows everyone to make a statement.
Strengthening resistance
The idea is to donate to the citizens’ committees we support every time you watch a match (if possible). With just a donation of five francs per match (SMS with WMsocialview 5 to the short number 339), people can be given the opportunity to better defend themselves against the injustices in Brazil. With every donation, you strengthen the power of Brazilians in the citizens’ committees.
Social Pay Per View attracts interest
Fortunately, the idea of Social Pay Per View has already attracted a great deal of interest. One example is the sports and music bar subrosa, which will donate ten percent of its revenue on match days to Social Pay Per View. We would like to thank subrosa for their commitment!
