At terre des hommes schweiz, our enthusiastic and talented team of around 60 employees work to build a just world. We work together with local partner organisations and young people from Africa, Latin America and Switzerland to create impactful projects.
Why you should work for us
terre des hommes schweiz offers rewarding roles within an appreciative, international team. Our work in development cooperation focuses on promoting young people as the decision-makers of tomorrow. As an NGO based in Switzerland, we create prospects for young people. In addition to the young people involved in our projects, our employees also play a key role in the success of our work and create the foundation from which we achieve our goals.
We have an open organisational culture of participation and a multicultural working environment. Employees are encouraged to play an active role in processes and projects, and to contribute innovative ideas. Development processes in our organisation are carried out in a participatory manner across hierarchical levels and different departments. We communicate as equals, value respectful interaction and benefit from a constructive feedback culture.
We work closely with local partners in our project countries. We support small, well-established organisations. We have national coordinators in six countries, some of whom are supported by subject experts. The coordinators are in close contact with the partner organisations due to their geographical proximity. The people who work for us abroad are exclusively local staff.
We have a socially responsible, family-friendly HR policy with flexible working time models, working from home and measures for mental and physical well-being. Employees are free to set their own working hours in consultation with their team to accommodate the needs of their family and personal lives.
At our headquarters in the coworking space in kHaus in Basel, Switzerland, the shared modern workspace means that we benefit from direct interaction and networking with organisations from cultural and scientific fields. We also enjoy the friendly atmosphere of this working environment and we often go for lunch together in the culinary and culturally diverse Kleinbasel district, playing table tennis together over lunch or go swimming in the Rhine after work.
The parent carrying the child is entitled to 16 weeks’ leave from the birth of the child. During the 16 weeks of leave, we pay the full salary. The parent who is not carrying the child is entitled to 4 weeks’ paid leave.
The wages of terre des hommes schweiz are based on the standard industry rates and take into account our values as a development policy organisation that is mainly financed by donations. The wages of the various hierarchy/wage levels are presented transparently for all staff.
We offer our employees a working environment based on partnership, where each individual is supported and encouraged in their professional role and as an individual. In keeping with this, our employees are given the opportunity to complete further training.
