Mixed Art in Basel: art for a good cause

"Together we are strong" - this is the motto of the artist and curator, Priska Medam. This motto was also reflected in the charity art exhibition, which took place from 21 to 23 March 2014 at the Basel Art Center. The exhibition Mixed Art offered a successful mixture of art, music, culinary delights and benefit.

For terre des hommes schweiz the participation in the exhibition Mixed Art was a premiere and can be described as a very successful event. About 300 people visited the two-day benefit exhibition, which was organized by the artist and curator Priska Medam and held at the Basel Art Center. As mixed as the audience was, so different were the works of art on display: from paintings, to wooden furniture, to works made of metal.
Galleries left outside
A special feature of the exhibition was that the artists themselves exhibited and not the galleries as is usually the case. Thus, this setting not only served to sell the works of art, but also, in keeping with the motto "Together we are strong", to network the exhibiting artists.
Musical accompaniment
The musical interludes of RAFSONIFY (Saturday) and Cindy Blum (Sunday) contributed to the good mood. The warm atmosphere during the concert of Cindy Blum (performed with guitar) was not only well received by the visitors, but also provided for additional guests. The aperitif with canapés, prosecco, wine and brownies rounded off the event.
Art as a possibility to express oneself
The combination of art and terre des hommes schweiz was a perfect fit. Art and music are valuable valves for expressing oneself in a different way. This is also used by those responsible for the projects of terre des hommes schweiz and thus helps young people to come to terms with their traumas. A great deal of creative energy is released during the work, some of which flows into voluntary work for the community or into ideas for an additional income. In this way, art becomes not only a valuable outlet for the young people, but also an impulse to shape their own future.
Many thanks for the support
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the exhibits and the greeting cards went into the project work of terre des hommes schweiz. terre des hommes schweiz would like to thank Priska Medam and her art colleagues for their support and wishes them much joy and success on their further way! With their passion for art, they enable young people in Africa and Latin America to have a better future.
