imagine and terre des hommes schweiz participated together in the awareness raising event STEP into action. While imagine worked with the pupils in a workshop, terre des hommes schweiz' morphing module provided entertainment during the breaks.
This week about 1200 young people met at the STEP into action project in Basel. STEP into action is a project by and for young people with the aim of sensitising pupils (10th-12th school year) to sustainable development. They should be motivated to get involved themselves. Both terre des hommes schweiz and imagine were present on the first two of three project days in St. Jakob-Park.
Addressing prejudices
During a three-hour interactive course, the participants of STEP into action took a concrete look at current global challenges. The young people from imagine contributed to the course with a workshop from their wide range of workshops. The self-developed workshop entitled "Prejudices and Migration" was attended by around 140 young people. During 35 minutes the students dealt with a real refugee story of an Afghan migrant.
Morphing met with great interest
Between the workshops, a so-called market place was set up in a sports hall. There was a joint stand of imagine and terre des hommes schweiz. Besides flyers and brochures, the terre des hommes schweiz morphing module was an attraction. Like at the imagine festival, the young people could let their face melt together with that of a person from the project countries of terre des hommes schweiz. More than 90 pupils took advantage of this opportunity.
What if...
The idea behind morphing is to show what someone would look like if he or she had a parent who is not from our latitudes. After all, you can't choose where you are born Some morphings can be found on the Facebook page of imagine.
The next opportunity to have yourself morphed will be on October 19 in Affoltern am Albis. terre des hommes schweiz will be present with a stand on the open day of the MNA Centre Lilienberg and is looking forward to your visit.
STEP into action was not the only event for imagine this week: Saturday is the starting day for imagine 2014, so Imagine always needs volunteers: Just come by (2.17 pm at Feierabendstrasse 80 in Basel) and sign up for a Jöbli.
