Morphing with imagine at STEP into action

imagine and terre des hommes schweiz took part in the STEP into action awareness-raising event together. While imagine worked with the students in a workshop, the morphing module from terre des hommes schweiz provided entertainment during the breaks.

This week, around 1200 young people met at the STEP into action project in Basel. STEP into action is a project by and for young people with the aim of sensitizing students (10th-12th grade) to sustainable development. The aim is to motivate them to get involved themselves. Both terre des hommes schweiz and imagine took part in these first two of three project days in St. Jakob Park.
Dealing with prejudices
During a three-hour interactive course, the participants of STEP into action dealt with current global challenges. The young people from imagine contributed to the course with a workshop from their wide range of workshops. The self-developed workshop entitled “Prejudices and migration” was attended by around 140 young people. For 35 minutes, the pupils dealt with a real refugee story of an Afghan migrant.
Morphing met with great interest
Between the workshops, a so-called marketplace was set up in a sports hall. There was a joint stand from imagine and terre des hommes schweiz. In addition to flyers and brochures, the terre des hommes schweiz morphing module was an attraction. As at the imagine festival, the young people were able to have their face merged with that of a person from the terre des hommes schweiz project countries. Over 90 pupils took advantage of this opportunity.
What if…
The idea behind morphing is to show what someone would look like if they had a parent who did not come from our latitudes. After all, you can’t choose where you’re born Some morphings can be found on imagine’s Facebook page.
The next opportunity to get morphed will be on October 19 in Affoltern am Albis. terre des hommes schweiz will have a stand at the MNA Center Lilienberg’s Open Day and is looking forward to your visit.
STEP into action was not the only event this week for imagine: Saturday is Startingday for imagine 2014. Imagine always needs volunteers: so just drop by (2-5pm at Feierabendstrasse 80 in Basel) and sign up for a Jöbli.
