Projects in Nicaragua
Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the world. Youth and child labour is very widespread, and where there is child labour, there is always exploitation. Young people working in rural areas also need special support.
A safe environment for children and young people
In Nicaragua around the city of Estelí, young people, especially girls and young women, are severely affected by violence. They suffer from physical, psychological and economic violence, which is culturally rooted and often taboo. Together with our local partner organization, we are making young people's voices heard by offering them improved access to services and information in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, violence prevention and psychosocial support.
A protective environment to prevent teenage pregnancies
Nicaragua has one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in Latin America. Nevertheless, there is hardly any access to health services
as well as appropriate advice and support. Together with our local partner organization, we provide affected young people with improved access to services and information in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, violence prevention and psychosocial support.
