Refugees – worldwide and in Europe

Almost every day, the media brings the refugee situation to the public’s attention. Recently, refugees have also become highly visible in some European cities. Flight or migration and its consequences are nothing new. That is why various Terre des hommes organizations around the world have been campaigning for those affected for decades.

Migration has long been an important issue for Terre des hommes organizations worldwide. Under the umbrella of the international Destination Unknown campaign, Terre des hommes organizations are committed to improving the protection of migrating children and young people. This includes interventions at the UN, emergency aid at the Hungarian border, support for boat refugees and efforts to ensure that minors are protected in accordance with child protection regulations.

Worldwide network for the protection of children, young people and families
The worldwide network of Terre des hommes schweiz organizations is active in Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, Syria, Lebanon, Northern Iraq, Jordan and Western Sahara. You can find a brief overview of what is actually being done for refugees and migrants on our dedicated Global Network page.

What can I do?
The last few weeks have shown that the Swiss population also wants to react to the refugee crisis and help. The options for doing this are currently still unclear. This is where we come in. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting links to possible contact points or organizations on Facebook and Twitter at irregular intervals. If you don’t yet know where you can get involved, then stay tuned via Facebook or Twitter and look out for the hashtag #supportrefugees.

Action week Support refugees
In many European countries, people are launching aid and solidarity campaigns. In addition to the important concrete help, it is also important to make people’s solidarity visible. With the “Support refugees action week”, we would like to give all interested parties the opportunity to show solidarity with refugees on their online channels and send a signal against xenophobia. The date for the action week has not yet been set. We hope for your support and will announce the date as soon as possible.
