Almost every day the media bring the refugee situation to the attention of the public. Recently, the refugees have also become highly visible in some European cities. Flight or migration and their consequences are not new. This is why various Terre des hommes organisations have been working for decades to help those affected worldwide.
Migration has long been an important issue for Terre des hommes organisations worldwide. Under the umbrella of the international campaign Destination Unknown, Terre des hommes organisations work for better protection of migrating children and young people. This can be through interventions at the UN, emergency aid at the Hungarian border, care for boat refugees or the commitment to ensure that minors are protected in accordance with child protection regulations.
Global network for the protection of children, adolescents and families
The worldwide network of Terre des hommes organisations is active in Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Serbia, Syria, Lebanon, Northern Iraq, Jordan and Western Sahara, among others. A brief overview of what is being done for refugees and migrants can be found on our Worldwide Network page.
What can I do?
The last few weeks have shown that the Swiss people also want to react to the refugee crisis and help. The possibilities to do so are currently still unclear. This is where we come in. In the next few weeks we will refer at irregular intervals on Facebook and Twitter to possible contact points or organisations. If you don't know where you can get involved, then stay tuned via Facebook or Twitter. Please pay attention to the hashtag #supportrefugees.
Action week Support refugees
In many European countries people are launching relief and solidarity actions. Besides the important concrete help, it is also important to make the solidarity of the people visible. With the "Action Week Support refugees" we would like to give all interested people the opportunity to show solidarity with refugees in their online channels and to set an example against xenophobia. The date for the action week has not yet been fixed. We hope for your support and will announce the date as soon as possible.
