In order to reach new donors, we take to the streets. We are currently on the road in the Zurich region and advertise our projects at the front door. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions directly about our work. But beware: there are also scammers on the road who pretend to be fundraisers. We will show you how to recognise the right employees of terre des hommes schweiz.
Dany Demuth, private donor care
In order to finance our projects, we are dependent on supporters. We are regularly looking for new donors: in addition to appeals for donations by letter, we do this through personal contact. Together with Emika GmbH we send employees to the neighbourhoods and communities, where they go from door to door to present our work. In this way they can explain on site what work we do, and they can respond directly to questions. The people concerned appreciate this personal contact, and our dialogers enjoy the many conversations with the newly engaged supporters.
Recognize fictitious fundraisers
Unfortunately, such important actions are abused by criminal people who carry out fictional fundraising. The Day week warns against fraudulent fundraiserswho are posing as relief workers' representatives. The fraudsters are usually very rude, have bad documents with them and push for a direct "donation", which no ZEWO-certified relief organisation would do.
The following points will help you to recognise whether someone is actually travelling on behalf of terre des hommes schweiz:
- We do not collect cash. Our employees will work with you to fill out a pledge in which you decide on a recurring donation by payment slip or direct debit. Of course, the commitment can be cancelled at any time and without giving reasons.
- Our employees can prove their identity. The ID card also states that they work for us.
- Our brochure is written in error-free German and will be given with any acceptance. On the back of the brochure you will find our telephone number and our web address.
- Our employees are polite and inform without pressure about our work. If you do not wish to make a commitment, simply tell the person concerned. They will thank you politely for your time and say goodbye.
