Europe is increasingly closing itself off from the flow of refugees. On their way, migrants are at the mercy of the violence of smugglers and traffickers. Terre des hommes demands the immediate opening of "humanitarian corridors" for their protection.
Walls and closed borders should protect Europe from the refugees". The actual people in need of protection - families, children and young people fleeing war, persecution and unspeakable living conditions - fall by the wayside. On their way they are at the mercy of the violence of the traffickers, who are only after their own profit. That is our failure. Terre des hommes schweiz condemns the closure of the borders around and in Europe. We call for the immediate opening of "humanitarian corridors" which will allow refugees access to international protection and asylum until they reach their destination.

We must not deprive them of basic human rights, such as protection, water, food, shelter, medical care and legal assistance. This is particularly true for children and young people who are too deeply traumatised when they flee their homes. With our international campaign Destination Unknown, terre des hommes schweiz contributes to supporting them legally and psycho-socially.
