“We can’t just let FIFA off the hook”

Competent panel guests, an exciting topic and an attentive audience: the panel discussion on February 16, 2017 on the topic of “FIFA in transition: appearance or reality?” was clearly a success. The conclusion of the evening was equally clear: as hard as FIFA is trying, there is still a lot of work to be done.

FIFA in transition: appearance or reality? To address this question, terre des hommes schweiz and Solidar Suisse hosted a panel discussion in Zurich on Thursday, February 16. In a lively discussion followed by exciting questions from the audience, it became clear that FIFA is making progress in its efforts to ensure sustainable World Cup and European Championship matches. However, these efforts are still very recent and their impact is therefore not yet very clear. There is still a long way to go before everything turns out well. Or as SP National Councillor Min Li Marti put it: “We can’t just let FIFA off the hook!”
