terre des hommes switzerland supports annually 373,000 young people worldwide. Together with local partner organizations, we encourage young people in Africa to, Latin America and Switzerlandto build a future worth living. We work impact-based and transparent. Regular reporting is a matter of course for us. We are ZEWO-certified, tax-exempt and Partner of the SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation).
As a foundation, community or institution, you too can make a valuable contribution to a future worth living. The following two projects are examples of our work in the Global South:
Sustainable agriculture in Mozambique
Mozambique is one of the poorest countries in the world, with almost 63 % of the population living on less than CHF 2.50 a day. The small farmers in the project region Mocuba are also severely affected by the consequences of climate change. Together with our partner organization NANA, we offer young people in Mozambique agricultural training to strengthen their knowledge and skills, sustainable agriculture. Through the project, we are making an important contribution to poverty reduction, the development of sustainable agriculture and the reduction of discrimination against girls and women.
Future through education in El Salvador
JuEl Salvador have been under general suspicion since the declaration of a state of emergency in 2022, being involved in criminal youth gangs. Among other things, this leads to a high unemployment rate among young people. The project region Cabañas is heavily influenced by violence, migration and low levels of education. Together with our partner organization MOJE, we are committed to promoting peaceful and non-violent coexistence in El Salvador. By successfully learning technical skills at the school for entrepreneurship, the young people receive a safe Alternative to dangerous migration.
