Youth projects in El Salvador are successful
For a long time, the strict lockdown, fear of the arbitrary security forces and insecurity due to the coronavirus paralysed the people of El Salvador.
Now the young people are active again and take the problems into their own hands.
"We have over 70 applications for new projects of youth groups ", says Daniela Weber, our coordinator for El Salvador. The young people should be able to implement as many projects as possible.
Help in a tropical storm
In June, tropical storm Amanda destroyed in the middle of the Corona crisis many houses. The people were in urgent need of food. Youth groups supplied three remote villages with our support. With 2000 Swiss francs each from our fund, they independently bought food, packed it and brought it to the people.
Youth help works!
Help with vegetable growing
People in El Salvador are still suffering from hunger, but they do not know how to grow vegetables themselves. This is what the young people want to show people. So the people can grow some food on a small area to escape hunger.
Young people help grow vegetables in three simple steps
acquire knowledge
The young people still know little about sowing, raising and caring for crops. That's why they seek advice from professionals, get information online and exchange tips.
Tell a friend
In simple short mobile phone films they explain the most important steps so that other young people can also grow vegetables and fruit in the garden.
Help
The young people actively help the people with the cultivation. They go to different villages, give courses. For those who have nothing, they distribute seeds and tools to help them get started.
